 17th century Italian handkerchief with cutwork and needle lace, Reticella or point coupé. From the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

 c1587. English noblewoman wearing a lace ruff.

 Elizabeth, Queen of Bohemia. By an unknown artist, 1613. In the National Portrait Gallery of London. She is wearing Reticella, or Point Coupé, lace.

 The painting now believed to be of William Shakespeare has hung on the walls of the Cobbe family for about 300 years.

A 'falling collar' from the Netherlands with Italian needle lace, Reticella or point coupé. It dates to the mid-seventeenth century. From the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam.
